About Red Patch Roofing — Veteran-Owned, Berks County Built

Where the Name Comes From

The red patch is the 82nd Airborne Division insignia — a white "AA" on a field of red, worn on the left shoulder of every soldier in the division. It's one of the most recognized unit patches in the U.S. Army. It represents precision, accountability, and a standard that doesn't waver under pressure — regardless of conditions, regardless of who's watching.

Sam Kensinger wore that patch through three combat deployments in Afghanistan. When he came home and built a roofing company in Berks County, he named it Red Patch. Not as a marketing angle — as a commitment to operate by the same standard. Every time a crew pulls into a driveway in Wyomissing or Muhlenberg Township or Hamburg, that name is on the truck. It means something.

Why We Built Red Patch

Sam didn't come home from service and start a roofing company because he was the best roofer in the region. He started Red Patch because he saw a market gap that nobody else was filling — a gap in how homeowners experience the process of hiring a contractor.

A roof replacement is a serious expense. When a project runs past $10,000, anxiety builds quickly if the homeowner has unanswered questions, if they aren't sure what's actually being installed, or if the contractor is slow to respond to concerns. That anxiety is the default experience with most contractors — and the trades in general have gotten comfortable with it because the bar has been low for so long.

What Sam noticed is that even the companies investing seriously in improving the customer experience — better digital tools, smoother sales processes, more polished communication — were still falling short on implementation and warranty follow-through. They looked modern on the surface and operated like every other contractor once the deposit cleared. The companies that were strong on craftsmanship were often weak on communication. The companies that were strong on sales were often weak on quality control. And almost all of them carried prices inflated by franchise fees, commissioned sales teams, and layers of marketing overhead that had nothing to do with the quality of the work. A company that actually checked all the boxes — honest pricing, real communication, quality installation, and a warranty that holds — was surprisingly hard to find.

Red Patch was built to be that company. The commitments aren't complicated: we respond when you call. We give exact arrival times and keep them. We price honestly — no franchise fees, no commissioned sales teams, no marketing overhead buried in the estimate. We document our work with drone footage. We install to manufacturer specifications with materials we stand behind. And we back every installation with a 15-year labor warranty that we intend to honor — because a warranty is worthless if the company that issued it isn't structured to make good on it.

The market opportunity Sam identified wasn't a gap in any single dimension. It was the gap between the companies that do one or two things well and the company that does all of it well. Red Patch exists to be that company in Berks County.

How We Operate

The Red Patch Standard

There are five things we do on every job that distinguish how we work. None of them are complicated. All of them require a level of discipline and accountability that most companies aren't built around.

Clock Icon

We give exact arrival times.

Not four-hour windows. If something changes on our end, we call before we're late. Every time, without exception.

Drone Icon

We document every job with drone footage.

Before we start and after we finish. You receive aerial footage of your roof at both stages — before tear-off begins and after the final inspection is complete. It's part of your job record, and it belongs to you.

List Icon

We put everything in writing.

Written estimates with line-item detail. A written warranty. No verbal-only commitments, no scope that gets interpreted differently on installation day.

Shield Icon

We back our work for 15 years.

If our workmanship causes a problem within 15 years of your installation date, we come back and fix it at no charge. That's not a marketing claim — it's a contract, and we intend to honor it.

Document Icon

We tell you what you actually need.

If your roof has five or ten years of serviceable life left in it, we'll tell you that and recommend you wait. A well-timed repair beats a premature replacement. We'd rather earn your trust and your business when the time is actually right.

The 15-Year Labor Warranty

The warranty is worth spending a moment on, because it's genuinely different from what most roofing contractors offer. A manufacturer's warranty covers materials — the shingles, the underlayment, the components. It doesn't cover installation errors, and installation errors are where most roof failures originate.

Our 15-year labor warranty covers our workmanship specifically. If we cause a problem — a flashing detail that wasn't done right, a valley that wasn't sealed properly, a penetration that was inadequately addressed — we come back and fix it. No charge. No argument about whether it's a material issue or a labor issue.

Most roofing contractors offer a one- or two-year labor warranty. A handful offer five years. We offer 15 because we install roofs the right way and we're confident in the work. The warranty exists because we expect to honor it — and because a homeowner who has a legitimate issue 10 years from now deserves a contractor who still answers the phone and shows up
